Our environment is under pressure from many sides. Pollutants in air, water and soil, noise and radiation affect the health of the population and the natural basis of life for animals and plants. The consumption of natural resources and the intensive use of land further restrict the habitats for humans and nature. Measures to protect our environment and natural resources must be based on sound principles and implemented efficiently in order to be effective. Early involvement of the stakeholders involved ensures a high level of acceptance and targeted implementation. As a professional link between the fields of technology, environment and society, we support decision-makers in identifying the need for action, developing action plans and communicating them.
Focus Areas
The promotion of species, the control of invasive species and the development of ecological infrastructures require a sound basis for decision-making and a variety of instruments and measures. We carry out strategic consultations and evaluations on these and other topics and develop feasibility studies, economic assessments and concepts for measures.
The protection of natural resources requires the closing of material cycles. We develop principles, strategies and action plans for waste management, the sustainable use of recyclable materials and the promotion of the circular economy. Incentives, regulations and voluntary measures by the economy should complement each other in a meaningful way.
Förderung von Holz als Bau- und Werkstoff im Kanton Zürich
Im Auftrag des Kantons Zürich hat econcept das Potenzial zur Treibhausgasreduktion durch einen vermehrten Holzeinsatz im Bauwesen abgeschätzt. Es wurde geprüft, ob die dadurch entstehende, zusätzliche Nachfrage nach Holz mit einer nachhaltigen Waldbewirtschaftung vereinbar ist. In einem zweiten Schritt wurden konkrete Massnahmen entlang der gesamten Holzverarbeitungskette ausgearbeitet, welche sich positiv auf die Holzbereitstellung, den Holzeinsatz im Bau oder die Wiederverwendung resp. thermische Verwertung von Holz auswirken.
